STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

What are the State Championships?

Held in Yokine this season over the March long weekend, the State Championships are an opportunity for clubs from all over WA to play against each other to find the ‘State Champions’ in each age level from Under 9's to Under 13's. Selected players have the pride of representing their club, the opportunity to improve and learn new skills and participate in an awesome event!! Teams generally play 2 games per day over the 3 days of the Championships. It is a fantastic experience for our players, and families alike, to be part of a State team and play on the ‘big stage’.

Dates for the State Championships are

2 March - 4 March 2024

State Teeball Championship Try-Outs

Sunday 22nd October and Sunday 29th October.

U9's and U10's will be 9am -10:30am.

U11's, U12's and U13's will be 10:30am - 12pm.

Georgetown Reserve.

Please ensure you register below before attending as this will allow a smooth process for all involved on the day.

What will the try-outs involve?

Interested players will be run through a variety of fielding and hitting drills. We will be looking at their individual skills, the way they work in a team, their coachability, their effort and attitude. We welcome players of all ages and abilities to try-out. It would be ideal if interested players could attend both try-out sessions. Having committed players and parents is just as important as having players with strong skills. If you are only able to attend one session, please let us know. At this stage we don’t know how many teams or what age levels we will be entering. That’s up to you! The more players that turn up to the try-outs the more scope we have to enter more teams.

What is expected?

Following the try-outs, selected players will be expected to attend a weekly training session, in addition to their normal Saturday team training session. The day and time will be determined by the Coach after selections have been made. Teams will also attend a number of Pre-State Carnivals prior to the State Championships. These are generally held on Sundays and will be discussed with you once the dates have been released. Players also need to make sure they are available for the 3 days of the March long weekend (2nd to the 4th March). Teams are only successful if the parents all pitch in to make the wheels turn. Each team will require a Coach (we do have some already but may require more dependent on the teams), an Assistant Coach, a Team Manager, Scorer and we always welcome umpires. Please make sure you let us know where you are able to help.

What does it cost?

At this stage, expect the fee to be around $100 to cover the cost of the personalised playing shirt and the cost of umpires for Pre-State Carnivals and the State Championship weekend. We will also be seeking sponsorship to cover additional costs. Any support in this area would be greatly appreciated.

And remember…

The Rockingham Raptors Teeball Association is run purely by volunteers. Although a very rewarding job, it can also be challenging. Please be understanding and patient at the try-outs and during the selection process. We are passionate about giving the children in our Club the best experience possible so everything we do is in their best interests.

Questions?

Please email raptorsstates@yahoo.com if you have any questions or
